Reach Your Potential as a Transformative Educator

The online Master of Arts in Education (MAEd) is an innovative and transformational interdisciplinary program. The program prepares graduates to recognize varied levels of social and educational inequities and empowers them to serve as advocates for the disenfranchised and underserved. Students are constantly encouraged to analyze, debate, and develop productive strategies in response to the principles, challenges, and opportunities of equity and educational justice.

Curriculum

Below is a sample list of courses you will learn from while enrolled in the online MAEd program.

MAEd 601 Human Development Across the Lifespan (3 credits)
This course employs a multidimensional view of human development with emphasis on context and the role of diversity (including, but not limited to, ethnicity, culture, gender, sexual orientation, age, learning styles, ability, and socio-economic status) in determining and meeting human needs.

MAEd 602 Learning Theory, Curriculum and Program Development (3 credits)
This course introduces students to the foundations of learning theory and program development. Students develop the skills to evaluate and construct curriculum and instruction in various educational and other institutional organizations. Integration of program planning competencies enable students to apply such skills in organizational leadership.

MAEd 603 Social Justice Leadership (3 credits)
This course examines social justice theories, themes, or issues and their implications in leadership development and practice. The course identifies the social, cultural, political, and economic factors that influence communities in a diverse society. It provides leadership knowledge, skills, and abilities for dealing with societal and institutional barriers to individual success and personal growth.
